Why not increase class sizes and decrease price?
Tuition can be pricey, so a way I value-add is by answering all students' questions through whatsapp or telegram after class. Since I only have 24 hours in a day, to be able to deliver value to those who pay a higher price, I have to keep class sizes small.
Online classes allow me to help students who only need minimal amounts of support to get to a level where they can "self-grind". Students often suffer from ineffective lectures, poorly written lecture notes, and subpar teaching quality.Â
As such, I aim to bridge the gap by providing concise notes to aid students in their revision, as well as an efficient lecture/tutorial system.
How does the Lecture/Tutorial system work?
Lectures and tutorials will run according to the schedule in the lesson plan page. Students will be added to a telegram group, where notes will be uploaded every Friday before lectures, and tutorials uploaded at the end of each lecture
Lectures are where I will teach the topic from scratch, going through simple questions for sufficient conceptual understanding. Towards the end of each lecture, past year prelim questions will be worked through to guide students on how to solve exam questions.
Students are to complete the prescribed tutorial questions by the next tutorial lesson. Each tutorial serves to correct misconceptions, so it is important that the student does their work before the lesson, rather than just attending to copy stuff down.
Answer sheets will not be uploaded, but every lesson will be recorded and uploaded within 24 hours after each lesson.
Why are online lessons not split into J1/J2
Firstly, I don't want J1s to pre-emptively buy tuition: tuition is not a necessity. If you wish to have complete guidance right from the beginning, I do offer 1-to-1 private tuition, subject to availability.
Secondly, most J2s experience a wakeup call after failing their J1 Promos abysmally. You probably have not learnt anything much in J1, and hence, I will teach the entire syllabus and go through revision within a single year. If you want an academic comeback arc, this is it.
Lastly, one common request I get is from polytechnic/international students who want to prepare for a STEM course in university, especially engineering courses. Having the entire content done within a year allows me to help you to prepare for university too. The last relevant topic will be finished around the week of 10th August: right in time for you to start Semester 1 of University.
